Nordic Offshore have in the past 11 weeks been executing two projects in the Baltic Sea region, one in Russia the other in Lithuania.

The Russian project was to dliver a complete trenching package with vessel, as trenched survey and trenching.

Nordic Offshore is burying the 45 mm double armoured cable to a depth of 2 metres in up to 100 meters of water depth.

There was a number of cable crossings and cable corrections, the cable burial depth was 1,5 -2 metres in some areas. The soil condition have varied from soft and muddy soil to very stiff clay, boulders and bedrock, so it has been challenging and demanding, and working in these waters have given us great experience of all aspects!

The project in Lithuania was of a similar nature as the one in Russia, but the burial depth was only 0,8 m, and the soils were similar to these in Russia , in addition, it was indicated danger of explosive mines from the 2nd World War, but we made no hits!

The Baltic Cable System is a ring of cables connecting Stockholm, Sweden; Helsinki, Finland, Kotka, Finland; St Petersburg, Russia; the Baltic States to Kalingrad; then to Poland and back to Sweden.
